Qualification Requirements

Previous Degree

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in mathematics, informatics (with a minor in mathematics) or a comparable study program is required. You should have knowledge of basic mathematics and IT basics.

Additional information:
English language proficiency can also be proven by the Cambridge Main Suite of English Examinations, or if you wrote your Bachelor's thesis in English. Students from foreign countries are admitted on the condition that they complete one module providing integrative knowledge of the German language within the first two semesters of their studies. TUM offers free courses for that purpose. If you already have a German language certificate to at least the A1 level, please submit that with your application.

  2. Transcript of records with courses equivalent to a minimum of 120 credits.
  3. List of the best 120 credits with grade calculation:
    1. Analysis of the curriculum for a bachelor's in mathematics or
    2. Analysis of the curriculum for a bachelor's in informatics with minor mathematics.
  4. Curriculum description of the underlying university degree (as a doc- or pdf-file), resp. module description.
  5. Actual curriculum vitae (CV).
  6. Letter of motivation.
  7. Proof of sufficient language skills for an English-language degree program.
  8. Essay on one of three given topics.
  9. uni-assist VPD certificate (VPD).
