Requirements
Qualification Requirements
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in one of the following fields: Biology/Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Chemistry/Biochemistry, Computer Science, Materials Science, Medicine, Nanotechnology, or Physics.
Please note: a bachelor's degree is required from most Asian applicants (including India, China, etc.) with a minimum of four years of study or, alternatively, a three-year bachelor's degree plus one year of master's studies.
If at the time of application, proof of the first degree qualifying the applicant for a profession is not yet available, the application will be considered under the precondition that 80% of the credit points attainable for the degree have already been achieved based on completed module examinations or the final thesis and the colloquium (if applicable). A certification from the awarding institute of higher education (examination office) serves as proof of the above-mentioned academic achievements.
Also, proven basic knowledge in biochemistry, cell biology, materials science, physics and mathematics.
No minimum GPA.

Application Documents
If you are you a (prospective) graduate from a non-German institution of higher education, then, you need to complete three steps for your application:
- You need to apply online in the CMCB databank (from April 1st to May 31st).
- In addition, you need to apply through "uni-assist".
- You need to need to send to uni-assist the following documents (certified copies) by post:
- Certified copies of your university degree certificate(s) and certified English or German translations (if the documents have not been issued in one of these languages).
If you have not received your degree certificate yet, please enclose a certified copy of your latest transcripts as well as a certificate from your university about the achievement of at least 80% of the credits necessary for graduation, the expected overall average grade, and your expected graduation date, including certified English or German translations if the documents have not been issued in one of these languages.
Please note that a 4 years undergraduate degree from most Asian applicants including India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka is required. - Latest transcripts of records.
- Certified copy of your higher education entrance qualification/school leaving certificate (Abitur, Baccalaureate, School-Leaving Certificate, O- and A-Levels, etc.) including the list of grades and its attested English or German translation (if the certificate is not issued in one of these languages).
- CV in English.
- Motivation letter in English.
- Two letters of recommendation from professors of your college or university qualified to evaluate your academic achievements and your potential for graduate study.
- Proof of your English proficiency (see language requirements) to:
