Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in biosciences, physics, neuroscience, biochemistry, biophysics, or a closely related field of specialization.
Minimum standard period of study: 6 semesters.
Required ECTS credits: 180.
The following components at least must be proven in order to confirm the relevance of the undergraduate degree:
- Components in biology, chemistry, physics, biochemistry, biophysics, or medicine or another research area in the field of experimental natural sciences in the scope of at least 90 credits, including components in scope of at least 40 credits in theoretical and practical basics of biology, chemistry, and physics.
Applicants shall be considered eligible for admission insofar as they have not yet completed their academic program at the time of application, but have acquired at least 120 credits in a relevant bachelor degree program or an equivalent degree program; this eligibility to admission shall be canceled insofar as no less than 150 credits have been proven by April 1st of the same year and the applicant must carry the responsibility for this.
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent degree with a grade of at least 3.0.

Application Procedure & Selection
During the online application, you will be asked to enter information regarding your current and permanent address, your CV with photo, your education (recent and previous enrollment) and academic background, language proficiency, honors, awards, and motivation. You should also indicate up to five research groups of the program you find particularly interesting.
The online application tools will allow you to upload relevant documents electronically (supported file types are: pdf, jpg, jpeg, gif, png). Your application will only be further processed if at least the following documents have been uploaded:
- CV with photo.
- Transcript/mark sheet.
- Certificate/diploma for any completed course of studies for which the degree certificate has already been issued.
You can also upload an English language or GRE certificates if available. All submitted documents must be in English or German. Certified copies of documents are not required for the application (i.e. regular copies are sufficient). Only upon admission to the program, all relevant documents (e.g. diploma, transcripts) must get certified. This can be done, for example, by the dean's or registrar's office of your university, a German embassy or consulate, or a public notary.
In addition, you will be asked to indicate the contact data of two referees who will write letters of recommendation for you. You should inform the referees about your intention to apply to the program beforehand. Only letters of recommendation which reach the university by January 15th can be considered in the evaluation of your application. In case your recommendation letter(s) does not reach the university in time, your application will still be processed and evaluated based on the documents available. The referees suggested by you will receive an automated e-mail request from the university at the e-mail address you indicate. This request will be posted as soon as you submit your complete application.
