Course Description
The M.Sc. Polymer Science explores the full lifecycle of polymers—from monomers and synthesis to functional design and application. Students gain in-depth expertise in areas such as catalyst design, colloid chemistry, polymer analytics, and materials processing through a blend of theory and laboratory work.

Bachelor's degree in chemistry, polymer and colloid chemistry, biochemistry, physics, materials science, or a related disciplinе.
Language Requirements

Application Documents
For EU applicants:
- Curriculum vitae.
- Grade conversion using the Bavarian Formula: this will be available as an Excel sheet on CAMPUSonline.
- Language certificate for English (see language requirements).
- Language certificate for German (see language requirements). It can be obtained during the first year of the program.
- Secondary school leaving certificate including subjects and grades (e.g. Abitur, High School Diploma, A-Levels, or equivalent): original language + certified translation in German or English
- Bachelor's transcript of records (or for comparable degree) including subjects and grades- at least 135 ECTS points, in original language + certified translation in German or English.
- Bachelor's grading scale with the maximum grade and minimum final grade required to be awarded the degree – not for passing individual courses, in original language + certified translation in German or English.
- Written presentation of course-specific competencies: a cover letter (in English or German) with a written statement of reasons for the choice of the respective master's degree program of a maximum of 2 pages, explaining the competencies based on which the applicant considers himself/herself particularly suitable for the desired degree program.
For non-EU citzens:
- Preliminary review documentation (VPD) uni-assist for the University of Bayreuth. The deadline for submitting the VPD in the online application in CAMPUSonline is June 15 for the Winter Semester, and January 15 for the Summer Semester. Please request your VPD via the uni-assist web portal as early as possible - but at the latest 6-8 weeks before the respective application deadline at the University of Bayreuth.

Depending on the country in which you acquired your previous education certificates, you may have to submit additional documents. You can find an overview of country-specific additional documents here.
For example, students from India, Vietnam, and mainland China are required to apply for the APS certificate.
The certified translation in German or English is required only if the document was not issued in German or English.
You do not need to submit any paper documents by post for the applicatiοn.
