Previous Degree

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in anthropology or a neighboring discipline (min. 60 credit points/ECTS).

Applications may already be submitted before completion of the bachelor's degree; however, a total of at least 150 credit points with a final German grade of 2.5 or better must be earned by the time of application.

Conditional admission is possible; special conditions may comprise up to 30 credit pοints

For EU citizens:

  1. Curriculum vitae: You can download and fill out the template provided on the course page.
  2. English language certificate (see language requirements).
  3. German language certificate (see language requirements). It can be obtained during the first year of the program.
  4. Secondary school leaving certificate including subjects and grades, in original language + certified translation in German or English.
  5. Bachelor's degree transcript of records (or for comparable degree) including subjects and grades- at least 150 ECTS points with a final grade corresponding to "2,5" or better on the German grading system, in original language + certified translation in German or English.
  6. Bachelor's degree grading scale with the maximum grade and minimum final grade required to be awarded the degree – not for passing individual courses (must be issued by your university), in original language + certified translation in German or English.
  7. Written presentation of course-specific competencies: Motivation letter.

For non-EU citizens:

  1. Preliminary review documentation uni-assist for the University of Bayreuth: For this master’s program international applicants from outside the EU who have obtained their degree abroad must apply via uni-assist and undergo a fee-based special procedure: preliminary review documentation (Vorprüfungsdokumentation [VPD]).
    Please keep in mind that due to uni-assist’s processing time, it may take 6-8 weeks for your preliminary documentation review to be issued. You should therefore apply for your VPD as early as possible.
