Course Description
The M.Sc. in Visual Computing at Saarland University explores the science and technology behind how computers process, analyze, and generate visual information. Students gain expertise in image analysis, pattern recognition, image synthesis, and scientific visualization while building strong foundations in mathematics, informatics, and engineering. The program brings together Saarland University’s renowned departments with leading institutes such as the Max Planck Institute for Informatics and the Fraunhofer Institute for Biomedical Engineering. With English as the language of instruction, this program attracts talented students worldwide and offers both a strong research focus and outstanding industry connections.

The program is designed for graduates in computer science, informatics, mathematics, physics, engineering, or related fields with a cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (75%) and ranking among the top 10% of their graduating class. It attracts motivated students with strong analytical skills and a passion for interdisciplinary research, advanced computing, and real-world applications of visual computing.
