Danish - Teacher Education Academic Secondary Education [Gymnasium] State Exam Programs in Germany without tuition fees (2026/27)

Studying Danish to become a high school teacher is a unique choice that offers excellent career prospects, especially in Schleswig-Holstein—the only federal state where Danish is a regular school subject. As a Danish teacher, you not only teach a Scandinavian language that opens the door to a fascinating culture and literature, but also convey the close historical and contemporary ties between Germany and its northern neighbor. Danish plays an important role in exchange, cooperation, and identity, especially in the border region—many students later use their language skills for their studies, careers, or simply for everyday life in the border region.
