Deaf Studies Bachelor Programs in Germany without tuition fees (2026/27)

Germany offers international students interdisciplinary Deaf Studies programs that combine the scientific study of German Sign Language (DGS) with exploration of deaf culture, history, education, and social policy. These English-taught degrees emphasize DGS as a fully independent language with its own grammar, while addressing issues of inclusion, accessibility, and the role of deaf communities in education, work, and media. Students gain linguistic competence alongside theoretical knowledge of deaf culture, preparing for careers in education, social and cultural organizations, sign language research, government agencies, and counseling services, with starting salaries typically ranging from €38,000 to €48,000.
