Studying economics to become a high school teacher means imparting the knowledge that students need to make informed decisions in a world shaped by economics. As an economics teacher, you explain how markets work, why companies act the way they do, and what role the state plays in the economy. You empower young people to understand news about inflation, interest rate policy, or trade agreements and prepare them for the decisions they will have to make immediately after graduating from high school—from their first tax return to insurance and retirement planning.
