Social Work: List of all tuition-free study programs in Germany (2026/2027)

Germany offers international students comprehensive Social Work programs at institutions such as Alice Salomon University Berlin and Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences, combining strong theoretical foundations with extensive practical training in one of Europe’s most developed welfare systems, which invests around €1 trillion annually in social protection. These English-taught programs integrate social policy, counseling, community development, migration work, youth welfare, and clinical social work, complemented by more than 900 hours of supervised field placements in refugee centers, youth offices, psychiatric clinics, and family services, where students apply evidence-based practices within Germany’s dual system of state and non-governmental providers such as Caritas and Diakonie. The curriculum emphasizes intercultural competence, trauma-informed care, and case management, preparing students to address the complexities of an increasingly diverse society.
