HAWK University of Applied Sciences and Arts Hildesheim/Holzminden/Göttingen is a state university with approximately 6,400 students spread across three campuses in Lower Saxony. Founded in 1971, it now offers a broad range of disciplines across six faculties: In Hildesheim, the focus is on civil engineering, design, cultural heritage preservation, as well as social work and health; in Holzminden, the focus is on management, construction, and social work—including degree programs in wood engineering that are unique in Germany—while Göttingen, with its faculties of natural sciences and technology as well as resource management, is home to fields of study such as forestry, arboriculture, and renewable energy. In total, HAWK offers approximately 46 degree programs, which are characterized by a strong practical focus, applied research, and close collaboration with industry and society.
