Catholic University of Applied Sciences Freiburg: List of all tuition-free bachelor programs (2026/27)

Catholic University of Freiburg (Katholische Hochschule Freiburg), founded in 1971, is a private church-affiliated university of applied sciences with approximately 1,800 students specializing in social work, childhood education, religious education, health management, and diaconal studies in Freiburg im Breisgau, Baden-Württemberg. This Catholic institution offers bachelor's and master's programs focused on social and educational professions, integrating Christian social teaching and Catholic ethics into professional training while maintaining openness to students of all backgrounds, though comfort with religious institutional values aids integration. Located in Freiburg (230,000 residents) near the Black Forest and French/Swiss borders, this environmentally-conscious university city offers high quality of life but elevated living costs averaging €800-1,000 monthly driven by the city's popularity and proximity to Switzerland. Programs conducted primarily in German require C1-C2 proficiency given the communication demands in social work and education fields, with mandatory internships integrated through partnerships with Caritas organizations, Catholic hospitals, church-affiliated schools, and secular social institutions throughout Baden-Württemberg.
