In the dual bachelor's programme, students alternate between theoretical teaching phases at the university and practical assignments in companies in three-month cycles. This structure facilitates entry into the profession and enables students to gain valuable practical experience. The FHDW's cooperation network includes around 800 companies, many of which cover some or all of the tuition fees of their dual students and offer them a permanent position after graduation. This means that most graduates already have career prospects by the time they finish their studies.
For working people, the FHDW has developed a flexible range of courses that enable targeted further education alongside their professional activities. The organisation of the part-time bachelor's degree programme is specially tailored to the needs of working professionals. The part-time master's programme also offers a well-founded further qualification based on a bachelor's degree or diploma and specifically prepares students for management roles in business or IT-related fields.
Founded in 1993, the FHDW was one of the first private universities of applied sciences in North Rhine-Westphalia. Today, more than 2,100 students study at its five locations in Paderborn, Bergisch Gladbach, Bielefeld, Marburg and Mettmann. With more than 7,100 graduates, a highly practice-oriented study concept and an international outlook, the FHDW offers excellent academic training in a personal and supportive environment.
