Founded in 1992, Meissen University of Applied Sciences (FH) and Further Education Centre (HSF Meissen) is a state-run university of applied sciences in the Free State of Saxony and is supervised by the Saxon State Ministry of the Interior. With around 1,110 students (as of 2023) and approximately 137 employees, including 65 university lecturers, it trains young professionals for careers in administration, tax administration and the judiciary using a dual study model. The range of courses includes general administration, digital administration, tax administration, state finance administration, law enforcement, social administration, social insurance and the part-time Master's programme in Public Governance, which is offered as a Bachelor's, Diploma and Master's programme. The three-year dual study programmes combine theory at the university with practical phases at public authorities, local government and judicial institutions, thus optimally preparing students for their future tasks in the public sector.
