It is a relatively small institution located in the town of Ottersberg, approximately 20 km north of Verden, in Lower Saxony, Germany. 

Located in a rural setting, the university campus occupies the site of a former castle. The campus environment is characterised by historic buildings, including the remains of the castle's ramparts and moat, providing a unique and picturesque atmosphere for students.
