Study Computer Science - Teacher Education Academic Secondary Education [Gymnasium] at Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (2026/27)

Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg (JMU) traces its roots to 1402, but its modern history really starts with the Counter-Reformation prince-bishop Julius Echter von Mespelbrunn, who re-founded the institution in 1582. The double name honours him and the Bavarian king Maximilian Joseph.  JMU’s Latin motto Veritati (“Devoted to the Truth”) still adorns the seal. Students move between the Gothic and Baroque Old University beside the UNESCO-listed Würzburg Residence and the green Hubland plateau, where a 1960s expansion—and the 39-hectare Campus Nord added in 2011—house state-of-the-art laboratories with views of the Main-valley vineyards.

Numerus Clausus (Admission Restriction)

For degree courses with a numerus clausus, part of the study places are allocated according to the grade point average (GPA) of the previous degree. Selection is generally based on how many applicants apply for a place. The higher the grade, the more difficult it is to get onto the course. The German grading system ranges from 1.0 (very good) to 6.0 (unsatisfactory).
