LMU - Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München: Application Deadlines for State Exam programs (2026/27)

Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU Munich), founded in 1472, is a public research university with approximately 50,000 students across 18 faculties in Munich, Bavaria, making it one of Germany's largest and oldest universities. This comprehensive institution offers programs from humanities and social sciences to natural sciences, medicine, law, economics, and theology, with particular research strengths in life sciences, physics, and humanities, consistently ranking among Germany's top 5 universities and holding German Excellence University status since 2006. Located across multiple Munich locations with the main campus in Maxvorstadt near museums and the English Garden, plus the HighTechCampus in Martinsried for life sciences, the university operates in Germany's most expensive city where living costs average €1,000-1,500 monthly and finding affordable housing proves extremely challenging with fierce competition for limited student accommodations. Programs operate primarily in German requiring C1-C2 proficiency for most bachelor's degrees, with highly competitive admission especially for medicine (1.0 NC), psychology, and law, while numerous English-taught master's programs and international graduate schools attract global students, though bachelor's programs remain predominantly German-language.
