Since being founded in 1997 and admitting its first students in 1998, the university has developed into a future-oriented educational establishment: State-of-the-art technologies, professors and lecturers with practical experience plus modern degree courses which meet the requirements of the future labour market guarantee a high standard of scientific training.
Individuality and maximum freedom during your degree course are a matter of course. The integrated campus concept and the location of the university in the town of Nordhausen enable the combination of research and instruction, studying and living on campus, offering virtually incomparable prerequisites for an interesting and pleasant student life at the southern edge of the Harz. Covering 11 hectares, the campus offers sufficient scope to combine both instruction and research, sport, culture and accommodation on the campus. This enables studying with short distances, intensive support in small study groups and in cutting-edge laboratories and teaching facilities.

Numerus Clausus (Admission Restriction)

For degree courses with a numerus clausus, part of the study places are allocated according to the grade point average (GPA) of the previous degree. Selection is generally based on how many applicants apply for a place. The higher the grade, the more difficult it is to get onto the course. The German grading system ranges from 1.0 (very good) to 6.0 (unsatisfactory).
