With an enrollment of over 5,000 students, it is a medium-sized institution located in the cities of Nürtingen and Geislingen an der Steige, in the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The university has two main campuses, one in the urban setting of Nürtingen and the other in the more suburban setting of Geislingen.
