Study Visual Effects at SAE Institute Deutschland (2026/27)

The SAE Institute is a private provider of creative-media education with campuses in major cities across Germany, part of an international network that spans dozens of institutes across many countries and continents and one it describes as the world's largest private training institute in the media field. Its programmes cover the creative and tech side of the media industry — areas such as audio and music production, film, games, game art and 3D animation, visual effects, content creation and online marketing, and software engineering — and span professional certificates, vocational training, the SAE Diploma, and bachelor's and master's degrees. The teaching is strongly practice- and project-oriented: curricula are developed together with leading practitioners from the industry so that graduates meet the demands of the global creative-media market, and students work with modern technical equipment and professional studios in a hands-on setting, combining flexible online formats with on-campus sessions. The bachelor's degrees are awarded in cooperation with the University of Hertfordshire near London, while the master's programmes run in partnership with the University of Hertfordshire and the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen.

Numerus Clausus (Admission Restriction)

For degree courses with a numerus clausus, part of the study places are allocated according to the grade point average (GPA) of the previous degree. Selection is generally based on how many applicants apply for a place. The higher the grade, the more difficult it is to get onto the course. The German grading system ranges from 1.0 (very good) to 6.0 (unsatisfactory).
