Pirmasens: International Programs with Admission Restriction — Numerus Clausus/NC (2026/27)

Pirmasens offers international students a highly specialised educational experience at the local campus of Hochschule Kaiserslautern, focusing on shoe technology, leather processing, and applied polymer sciences—a combination found nowhere else at university level worldwide, making this programme genuinely unique for students seeking expertise in footwear engineering and design. This distinctive town in the Palatinate region carries deep historical significance as Germany's traditional shoe manufacturing centre, and that heritage shapes the academic programme: specialised laboratories, industry partnerships with footwear and materials companies, and research facilities dedicated to both traditional craftsmanship and innovative production methods create learning opportunities that cannot be replicated elsewhere. The intimate campus atmosphere means close relationships with professors who are leading experts in their niche field, while direct industry connections provide practical experience and career pathways in a global industry that spans luxury fashion, athletic performance, and industrial applications. Pirmasens itself offers remarkably affordable living costs—among the lowest in western Germany—allowing students to live comfortably while experiencing authentic Palatinate culture: local wine traditions, regional cuisine, and a genuine community character far removed from tourist centres.
