Wilhelmshaven, a coastal city in Lower Saxony, Germany, is renowned for its rich maritime heritage and strategic importance as the country's main naval base. Situated on the Jade Bight, the city boasts the JadeWeserPort, Germany's only deep-water port capable of accommodating the world's largest container ships regardless of tidal conditions. Key attractions include the German Naval Museum, which showcases naval history with exhibits such as the destroyer Mölders and submarine U10, and the UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea Visitor Centre, which offers insights into the unique coastal ecosystem. The iconic Kaiser-Wilhelm Bridge, one of the longest swing bridges in Europe, connects the city centre to Südstrand, a rare south-facing beach in Germany, ideal for relaxation and seaside activities.
