Witten, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, offers international students a distinctive academic experience at the University of Witten/Herdecke (UW/H), the first private university in Germany to receive state accreditation in 1982. Renowned for its interdisciplinary and humanistic approach to education, UW/H offers programs in Medicine, Dentistry, Psychology, Nursing, Management and Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE). The university emphasizes personal development through its Studium fundamentale, a mandatory interdisciplinary curriculum that fosters critical thinking and social responsibility.

Located in the Ruhr region, Witten combines the welcoming atmosphere of a medium-sized city with easy access to the cultural, economic and social opportunities of the Rhine-Ruhr metropolitan area. Compared to many larger German university cities, living costs and accommodation prices are often more affordable, making Witten an attractive choice for students.
