Requirements
Qualification Requirements
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in agricultural science or equivalent academic and examination achievements in related disciplines with particular relevance to dairy science.
Minimum standard period of study: 3 years.
Required ECTS credits: 180.
Evidence of:
- The acquisition of at least 30 ECTS credit points from lectures with non-overlapping contents in the field of Livestock Sciences in a degree program, or
- Practical activities in the field of Livestock Sciences in Germany or abroad of at least 425 hours (corresponding to 3 months of full-time work) in the past five calendar years. This can be evidenced via work experience, voluntary work, or professional occupation, for example.
The evidence of a practical activity can be exchanged for experience in the field of Livestock Sciences research with a comparable scope to sentence 1 in the past five calendar years. Experience in the field of Livestock Sciences research can be evidenced via, for example, cooperation in research projects, (co)initiation of a research project, or successful publication of your own research results in scientific, peer-reviewed journals.
A grade “good” (German grading at least 2.5) or higher.
Language Requirements
The following certificates are recognised as proof of your language proficience.
Specification: Grade A.
Specification: With at least 6.0 in each of the four components.
Specification: Grade B.
Specification: With component scores of at least 20 points.
Specification: With a Test of Written English score of 5.5.

For the application via uni-assist: € 75 for the first application, € 30 for each additional
Application Documents
- Scan of passport.
- CV (curriculum vitae) - max. 2 pages.
- Secondary school certificate.
- University degree certificate.
- Official transcript of records listing all classes.
- Confirmation of the grading system applied by your university (i.e. best possible mark and lowest pass mark required for your degree to be awarded).
- Proof of English language proficiency (see language requirements).
- Proof of special achievements relevant to livestock science or dairy production (i.e. work experience, academic achievements, scholarships, etc.).
- APS Certificate: applicants for China, Vietnam, Mongolia, Taiwan, and India (applicants from India may submit their APS certificate at a later time point).
All provided documents must be of high quality and in the correct order (e.g. transcript of records). All incomplete applications and unreadable copies of certificates will be rejected. Accepted applicants will later have to provide the originals for enrollment at the University of Kiel.
Important note: For documents in languages other than English or German you need to provide officially certified translations.
