Course Description
Understand Earth as an interconnected system—and learn to investigate it across deep time. FAU’s M.Sc. Earth System Dynamics and Evolution combines geoscience, bioscience, hydrology, climate perspectives, data science, and humanities-based reflection in one research-oriented program. You build an integrated view of the atmosphere, biosphere, geosphere, and hydro- and cryosphere while strengthening skills in modeling, statistics, research design, and project management. With interdisciplinary teaching, practical formats, and an independent master’s thesis, the program prepares you to tackle complex environmental questions with scientific depth and critical perspective.

This program is ideal for you if you hold a bachelor’s degree in geosciences or a related field such as Earth sciences, biosciences, environmental sciences, ecology, or paleontology and want to study Earth as an interconnected system. It suits curious, research-minded students who enjoy interdisciplinary thinking, data analysis, and scientific questions spanning past and present environmental change.
