Turn Geodata Into the Future of Responsible Mining | MSc Geomatics
Course Description
Turn raw geodata into decisions that shape the future of responsible mining. This English-taught M.Sc. equips you to design innovative geomonitoring concepts across the entire raw-material process chain, uniting surveying, sensor technology, data science, and geomodeling. Built on results from several major European research projects and delivered together with local industry partners, the program lets you tackle real cases while building entrepreneurial skills. With two specialization tracks and international double-degree routes to Leoben, Lisbon, and Wroclaw, you graduate ready to take a leading role in geomatics for mineral resource management.
This program suits graduates holding a first degree of at least six semesters in mine surveying, geodesy, geoinformatics, geoengineering, or applied geosciences. You should bring solid foundations in mathematics, computer science, physics, and statistics, a genuine interest in sensor data and geomodeling, and the ambition to lead technically demanding raw-material projects.

Track Option 1: Deposit Modelling & Mine Planning
Specialise in Deposit Modelling & Mine Planning to master resource modelling alongside the financial, legal, economic, and environmental sides of running a mining project.
Track Option 2: International Mine Surveying
Specialise in International Mine Surveying, run jointly with Leoben, mastering measurement data, big-data analysis, and machine vision applied to modern mining processes.
Joint Degree Option
Additional double-degree options with the technical universities in Lisbon (Portugal) and Wrocław (Poland) are currently planned but not yet available.

Qualification Requirements
The application requirements for the study program in "Geomatics for Mineral Resource Managеmеnt" are:
of at least six semesters in the fields of mine surveying, geodesy, geoinformatics, geoengineering, or applied geosciences
Proof of completion of the following or equivalent modules:
- Advanced Mathematics for Engineers 1 and 2
- Introduction to Computer Science
- Physics for Engineers
- Data Analysis/Statistics and General Principles of Surveying and Instrumentation
- Introduction to Geosciences
A qualification assessment procedure must be completed as part of admission.
