Qualification Requirements


Previous Degree

Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in geophysics, physics, mathematics, geosciences, mineralogy, Geology, engineering sciences, or related subjects.

Profound knowledge of geophysics, mathematics, and physics (usually a minimum of 20 credits each during the bachelor studies). Missing credits in geophysics can individually be caught up during the 1st year. For immediate success students without a background in geophysics can take part in an interactive convergence course covering the most important topics from seismology and seismic.

Minimum standard period of study: 3 years.
Required ECTS credits: 180.

If the bachelor's degree has not yet been conferred by the closing date for applications but will be completed before the registration, you can apply with a preliminary transcript of recοrds.

English language proficiency can also be proven by German Abitur, with a minimum of 5 years of English until the final year with an average mark of 5 points within the last two years or in the final exam.
