Qualification Requirements
The application requirements for the study program in "Neural Enginееring" are:
To be eligible for admission, applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree or Diploma (from a University of Applied Sciences or a traditional university) in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field, comprising 210 ECTS credits.
Applicants who have completed a six-semester Bachelor's programme totaling 180 ECTS credits will be required to complete selected courses from the htw saar Bachelor's programme in Biomedical Engineering, amounting to an additional 30 ECTS crеdits.
at least B2 (CΕFR)
An average grade of 2.5 or better is needed according to the German grading scale to qualify for admission.
The effective overall grade used for the admission decision improves compared to the grade shown on the degree certificate of the qualifying studies:
- by up to 0.3, if up to 45 ECTS credits were earned in this program in a subject area relevant to the degree, which combines biology and technology, e.g., biomedical engineering, neuroinformatics, or similar.
- by 0.1, if the thesis was graded as "very good" (1.5 or bеttеr).
The admission decision is made by the selection committeе.

Testimonials
The Neural Engineering course qualifies our graduates for demanding industrial R&D positions, e.g., in the development of nerve stimulators, diagnostic devices or active implants. Other emerging occupational fields encompass neuroergonomic (e.g., automotive branch) and neurocybernetic (collaborative robotics) applications, as well as the development of tailor-made applications in neuro-rehabilitation. A large number of Master's graduates strive for independent scientific work and pursue further academic qualification within the framework of a doctorate. Our national and international cooperation partners provide an excellent infrastructure for a doctorate.
