Pediatric Dentistry in Germany

Germany offers international students an exceptional pathway to specialize in Pediatric Dentistry, combining world-class dental education with comprehensive pediatric healthcare in a nation where preventive children's dental care is prioritized through mandatory insurance coverage and systematic school dental programs reaching 12 million children annually. Pursuing Pediatric Dentistry in Germany means first completing a dental degree (Zahnmedizin) at prestigious institutions like Charité Berlin or University of Heidelberg, followed by specialized training in Kinderzahnheilkunde at university clinics renowned for pediatric oral health research, learning from a country that has dramatically reduced childhood caries through innovative prevention programs. German dental schools provide exceptional pediatric dentistry training through dedicated children's clinics equipped with child-friendly treatment environments, behavior management facilities, and specialized equipment for treating patients from infancy through adolescence, while emphasizing preventive care, minimal intervention dentistry, and interdisciplinary collaboration with pediatricians and orthodontists.

Numerus Clausus (Admission Restriction)

For degree courses with a numerus clausus, part of the study places are allocated according to the grade point average (GPA) of the previous degree. Selection is generally based on how many applicants apply for a place. The higher the grade, the more difficult it is to get onto the course. The German grading system ranges from 1.0 (very good) to 6.0 (unsatisfactory).
