Studying to become a secondary school teacher means accompanying young people during a crucial phase of their lives – between childhood and adulthood, between school and the start of vocational training or further education. As a secondary school teacher, you teach students who are aiming for an intermediate school leaving certificate that opens up a variety of paths: to qualified vocational training, to a technical college, or – if their grades are good enough – to the upper level of a grammar school.
