Teaching Degree - Comprehensive School [Gesamtschule]: Top State Exam Programs in Germany (2026/27)

Studying to become a secondary school teacher means accompanying young people during a crucial phase of their lives – between childhood and adulthood, between school and the start of vocational training or further education. As a secondary school teacher, you teach students who are aiming for an intermediate school leaving certificate that opens up a variety of paths: to qualified vocational training, to a technical college, or – if their grades are good enough – to the upper level of a grammar school. Secondary schools combine a solid general education with a practical orientation and prepare young people for a life in which both theoretical knowledge and practical skills are in demand.
