Overview Deadlines

The Evangelische Hochschule Hessen (EHH) is a church-affiliated university of applied sciences focusing on social work, health sciences, religious and community education, and public theology. It will be established on April 1, 2026, through the merger of the Evangelische Hochschule Darmstadt (founded in 1971) and the CVJM University of Applied Sciences (founded in 2009), marking the first joint higher education initiative of the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau, the Evangelical Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck, and the German YMCA (CVJM). Initially, EHH will operate across campuses in Darmstadt, Kassel, and Schwalmstadt-Treysa, before consolidating its activities in the medium term at Darmstadt and Schwalmstadt-Treysa. The latter location is of particular historical importance for Protestantism, as the foundations of confirmation were established in nearby Ziegenhain in 1539, and in 1945 Treysa hosted the first post-war assembly of Protestant churches in Germany, leading to the formation of the Evangelical Church in Germany (EKD).

Numerus Clausus (Admission Restriction)

For degree courses with a numerus clausus, part of the study places are allocated according to the grade point average (GPA) of the previous degree. Selection is generally based on how many applicants apply for a place. The higher the grade, the more difficult it is to get onto the course. The German grading system ranges from 1.0 (very good) to 6.0 (unsatisfactory).
