The Freie Theologische Hochschule GieĂen (FTH GieĂen), also known as the Giessen School of Theology, is a private, state-recognized theological university located in GieĂen, Hesse, Germany. Founded in 1974, the FTH GieĂen has been providing Bible-based theological education for nearly 50 years. With approximately 200 students the university offers an intimate and focused learning environment. Situated in the city of GieĂen, the FTH GieĂen campus provides students with a blend of urban amenities and a close-knit community.

For degree courses with a numerus clausus, part of the study places are allocated according to the grade point average (GPA) of the previous degree. Selection is generally based on how many applicants apply for a place. The higher the grade, the more difficult it is to get onto the course. The German grading system ranges from 1.0 (very good) to 6.0 (unsatisfactory).
