Macromedia University of Applied Sciences: Application Deadlines for English-taught programs (2026/27)

Macromedia University (Hochschule Macromedia), founded in 1993, is a private university with 4,500 students across seven German cities—Munich, Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Leipzig, Freiburg, and Stuttgart—specializing in creative industries programs including media management, communication, design, film, fashion, journalism, games, and performing arts. This private Hochschule charges tuition fees significantly higher than public institutions while offering programs primarily in German with increasing English-taught options at master's level, targeting students pursuing careers in creative and media sectors through practice-oriented curricula emphasizing industry projects over academic research. The multi-campus structure enables students to choose locations based on industry strengths—Berlin for startups and digital media, Munich for broadcasting and advertising, Hamburg for publishing and music—though program availability varies by campus requiring verification of specific degree offerings at each location. Despite achieving recognition for entrepreneurial activities with reported high startup rates among graduates, Macromedia faces the typical private university challenge of mixed employer perception in Germany where public university degrees often carry more weight, particularly outside creative industries where the institution has established partnerships.
