MIPLC
Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC), established in 2003, is a specialized postgraduate institution offering a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Intellectual Property and Competition Law through a joint partnership between George Washington University Law School, Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, University of Augsburg, and Technical University of Munich. This unique collaborative program enrolls approximately 30-40 students annually from diverse legal backgrounds, focusing exclusively on European and international IP law, patent law, trademark law, copyright, and competition law, with instruction entirely in English by academics and practicing IP lawyers from partner institutions and major law firms. Located in Munich near the Max Planck Institute and European Patent Office, the program benefits from Germany's role as Europe's patent hub with the EPO headquarters and upcoming Unified Patent Court, though Munich's status as Germany's most expensive city means living costs of âŹ1,000-1,500 monthly present significant financial challenges alongside program tuition fees.
