The University of Bayreuth is a public research university established in 1975 in Bayreuth, Bavaria, Germany. The university comprises seven faculties offering more than 100 degree programs, including approximately 30 English-taught master's programs in fields such as African Studies, Computer Science, Economics, Environmental Sciences, and Material Science. With around 12,000 students, including international students from over 100 countries, the university maintains a campus-based structure that facilitates interdisciplinary collaboration. The institution is particularly recognized for its African Studies program, ranked among the best in Europe, and its research centers in polymer science, ecology, and energy materials.

Numerus Clausus (Admission Restriction)

For degree courses with a numerus clausus, part of the study places are allocated according to the grade point average (GPA) of the previous degree. Selection is generally based on how many applicants apply for a place. The higher the grade, the more difficult it is to get onto the course. The German grading system ranges from 1.0 (very good) to 6.0 (unsatisfactory).
