The Hochschule fĂŒr Technik und Wirtschaft des Saarlandes (HTW Saar), also known as SaarbrĂŒcken University of Applied Sciences, is a public university of applied sciences founded in 1946 and today counts over 6,000 students, making it one of the largest of its kind in Germany. Located in SaarbrĂŒcken, the university offers modern facilities in an urban setting and is known for its broad range of programmes in business, architecture, civil and mechanical engineering, social sciences and especially Franco-German studies. HTW Saar has built a strong reputation for combining practice-oriented training with a solid theoretical foundation, with specialist strengths in automotive engineering, biomedical engineering and renewable energy. Numerus Clausus (Admission Restriction)
For degree courses with a numerus clausus, part of the study places are allocated according to the grade point average (GPA) of the previous degree. Selection is generally based on how many applicants apply for a place. The higher the grade, the more difficult it is to get onto the course. The German grading system ranges from 1.0 (very good) to 6.0 (unsatisfactory).
