Holzminden: Admission Restriction - Numerus Clausus/NC (2026/27)

Holzminden is a county seat in the Weserbergland region of Lower Saxony with a population of about 20,000. It is located on the Weser River, near the border with North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse. The city has traditionally been strongly influenced by the fragrance and aroma industry—it is home to global corporations such as Symrise, which has earned Holzminden the nickname “World Capital of Fragrances.” Despite its modest size, the town has its own college life thanks to the HAWK campus, which adds vibrancy to the otherwise predominantly rural region. Its location in the Weserbergland region also offers proximity to nature; however, it is a certain distance from larger cities such as Hanover or Kassel, which makes the town seem quieter and less urban compared to Hildesheim or Göttingen.
