Marburg: State Exam programs with Admission Restriction — Numerus Clausus/NC (2026/27)

Marburg offers international students a magical educational experience at its historic Philipps-University, Germany's oldest Protestant university dating back to 1527. This quintessential university town provides excellent education across diverse disciplines, with particular strengths in medicine, psychology, and peace studies, all set in a setting of extraordinary beauty where a fairytale castle overlooks a perfectly preserved medieval old town climbing steep hillsides above the Lahn River. International students benefit from studying in a city where academic life defines the community atmosphere, with students comprising nearly a third of the population, creating a uniquely supportive environment enhanced by comprehensive support services for newcomers. The car-free old town, with its winding cobblestone streets, half-timbered houses, and historic university buildings, creates an inspiring backdrop for academic pursuits that has remained largely unchanged for centuries.
