The Folkwang University of the Arts (Folkwang Universität der Künste) is a prestigious public arts university based in Essen, Germany, with additional campuses in the cities of Bochum, Duisburg and Dortmund. Founded in 1927, it is one of the oldest and most respected institutions of art education in Germany.

It is renowned for its interdisciplinary approach, bringing together disciplines such as music, theatre, dance, design and science under one roof. This unique educational concept, known as the "Folkwang idea", encourages collaboration and exchange between different art forms.

With around 1,600 students Folkwang University of the Arts offers a diverse and vibrant learning environment. The university's main campus is located in the Werden district of Essen, in a historic former Benedictine abbey.
