HSBA is the Business School in Hamburg. It is their mission to support companies in qualifying their employees and recruiting promising talents who are willing to study their internationally-oriented dual Bachelor's and full-or part-time Master's degree programmes. It is their aim to deliver excellent education programmes to students of all career levels regardless of their financial background.

They are convinced that commitment, respectability and innovative thinking are the basis for success in business. For this, they provide the necessary competencies.

Currently, HSBA is the academic partner for about 1.000 students and 300 cooperating companies. Next to the ambitious study programmes, they also offer demanding executive education, a doctoral programme and application-oriented research. With events and conferences for the business community as well as the activities of their Digital Innovation Lab, they have created a platform for fruitful exchanges between students, science and business. With this approach, they want to strengthen the competitiveness of Hamburg based companies in the age of digital transformation.

State Recognition
On 4 August 2009, the Behörde für Wissenschaft und Forschung der Freien und Hansestadt Hamburg (Hamburg authorities for science and research) granted permanent state recognition to HSBA. The Science Senator at the time, Dr. Herlind Gundelach, said: “I congratulate HSBA and its founder, Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, on obtaining permanent recognition. The accreditation successfully granted by the German Council of Science and Humanities is a seal of quality for top-notch teaching and high quality research achievements. With its dual courses of study tailored to Hamburg’s economy, HSBA fulfils an important function in our university landscape.”

Accreditation by the German Council of Science and Humanities
HSBA was accredited by the German Council of Science and Humanities for the first time in 2009 and was reaccredited for a further five years in 2013 and 2019. The German Council of Science and Humanities is one of the most important advisory committees on academic policy in Germany and is funded by the Federal Government and the governments of the sixteen German states. It advises the federal and state governments in Germany on all matters involving the content-related and structural development of science, research and academia. Accreditation by the German Council of Science and Humanities is generally a prerequisite for universities in order to obtain permanent state recognition.
