Overview Deadlines

Established in 2006 through the merger of several Hamburg institutions, HafenCity University Hamburg (HCU) is Germany's only university focused exclusively on architecture and metropolitan development. Two thousand four hundred students study across five departments: Architecture, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, Urban Planning, and Urban Design. Located in Hamburg's redeveloped HafenCity district, between the historic Speicherstadt warehouse district and the Elbphilharmonie concert hall, this specialized public university operates from a purpose-built waterfront campus. The campus serves as an educational facility and a case study for urban transformation.
