The Hamburg Media School (HMS), founded in 2003, is a prestigious institution in Hamburg offering scientific, practice-oriented and interdisciplinary education for future media managers, journalists and filmmakers. Situated on the Art and Media Campus, which unites five leading media-focused educational institutions, HMS benefits from its close integration into Hamburg’s dynamic media landscape. Operating as a public-private partnership, its shareholders include the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, the University of Hamburg, the University of Fine Arts and the HMS Foundation, which is backed by around 60 digital and media companies, ensuring both academic excellence and strong industry ties. At its core, HMS offers four specialised Master’s programmes – Digital and Media Management (full-time and part-time), Digital Journalism, Film and Commercial Film – all designed to combine rigorous academic training with hands-on industry experience in small, closely mentored groups.
