KIT - The Research University in the Helmholtz Association
As the research university in the Helmholtz Association, KIT creates and imparts knowledge for society and the environment. Our goal is to make significant contributions to the global challenges facing mankind in the fields of energy, mobility, and information. To this end, scientists conduct basic and applied research in a wide range of disciplines. With its research-based study programmes, KIT prepares its students for responsible positions in society, industry, and science.

KIT's innovation efforts build a bridge between important scientific findings and their application.
Studies at the Pulse of Research
Teaching at KIT aims to provide young people with a comprehensive scientific and research-based education and to impart interdisciplinary and social skills. By the end of their studies, students will be able to independently identify current and future problems, analyse complex issues, and develop sustainable solutions. Subjects range from engineering and natural sciences to business, humanities and social sciences.
Sustainable solutions for pressing future challenges
KIT conducts research in a wide range of disciplines in the natural and engineering sciences, economics, and the humanities and social sciences, in line with the long-term challenges facing our society. Energy, mobility, and information are traditionally strong areas at KIT. Their perfect interlinking is essential for the success of the energy turnaround, for example. Doctoral students at KIT conduct independent and interdisciplinary research at an early stage and are supported in various ways, e.g. by the Karlsruhe House of Young Scientists (KHYS), the central unit of KIT for the promotion of young scientists.
