KIT – The Research University in the Helmholtz Association
Being The Research University in the Helmholtz Association, KIT creates and imparts knowledge for the society and the environment. It is our objective to make significant contributions to the global challenges of mankind in the fields of energy, mobility, and information. For this, scientists conduct fundamental and applied research in a broad range of disciplines. KIT prepares its students for responsible positions in society, industry, and science by offering research-based study programs. Innovation efforts at KIT build a bridge between important scientific findings and their application.

Studies on the Pulse of Research
Teaching at KIT is aimed at qualifying young persons by comprehensive scientific and research-based education and imparting interdisciplinary and social skills. At the end of their studies, students are able to independently identify current and future problems, analyze complex topics, and develop sustainable solutions. The scope of subjects extends from engineering and natural sciences to economics, to the humanities and social sciences.

Sustainable Solutions for Pressing Future Challenges
In a broad range of disciplines in natural and engineering sciences, economics, and the humanities and social sciences, KIT conducts research in line with the long-term challenges facing our society. Energy, mobility, and information are strong at KIT by tradition. Their perfect interlinkage is essential to the success of the energy transition, for instance. Doctoral students at KIT conduct independent and interdisciplinary research at an early stage and are supported in various ways, e.g. by the Karlsruhe House of Young Scientists (KHYS), the central unit of KIT to promote young scientists.
