University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Sciences and Technology TĂąrgu Mureș Campus Hamburg (UMCH) is the German branch of the state-accredited Romanian George Emil Palade University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Sciences and Technology TĂąrgu Mureș, opened in 2019 and representing the only medical faculty in Germany offering a fully English-taught human medicine degree program. The campus is located in the state-of-the-art Science City Hamburg Bahrenfeld research district and enables students to complete a six-year, NC-free medical degree without waiting periods, where theoretical content of the preclinical and clinical phases is taught in English in Hamburg, while practical-clinical training from the third year onwards takes place in German at nationwide teaching hospitals. With its highly digitalized infrastructure, small study groups of maximum 20 students, cutting-edge laboratories, and innovative teaching methods such as the virtual 3D anatomy table, UMCH provides practice-oriented preparation for an international medical career and offers a degree recognized throughout the EU as Doctor of Medicine (MD).

UMCH NC: Glossary

Numerus Clausus (NC)
This Latin term means “limited number” and indicates that a program has restricted admission. In other words, not all applicants can be accepted, so selection is usually based on grades or other criteria when demand exceeds available spots.
