Ancient Studies: List of all study programs in Germany (2026/27)

Ancient Studies is a multidisciplinary field that explores the civilizations of the classical and pre-classical worlds—such as ancient Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, and Rome—through the lenses of archaeology, history, linguistics, art history, and anthropology. Students examine ancient literature, mythology, philosophy, religion, political systems, and daily life by engaging with original texts, inscriptions, and artifacts, while developing skills in historical analysis, translation, and archaeological methods. Many programs offer hands-on experiences through excavations, museum work, and cultural heritage projects.
