Germany’s Choreography programs offer international students the opportunity to master the art of creating, structuring, and contextualizing movement for dance, theater, film, and performance within one of Europe’s most vibrant performing arts landscapes. At renowned institutions like Folkwang University of the Arts and HfMT Hamburg, students develop personal artistic vocabularies through practical training across diverse dance styles, combined with coursework in dance history, movement analysis, dramaturgy, and creative composition. Germany’s rich dance culture—shaped by Pina Bausch’s Tanztheater legacy and advanced by innovative companies such as Sasha Waltz & Guests—provides an inspiring environment supported by 140+ publicly funded theaters, international festivals, and interdisciplinary art spaces.
