Russian - Teaching Degree Academic Secondary School [Gymnasium]: List of all tuition-free study programs in Germany (2026/2027)

Studying Russian to become a high school teacher means teaching students one of the world's major languages, spoken by over 250 million people, which opens up access to a vast cultural area – from Russian literature, music, and ballet to the complex history of Eastern Europe. As a Russian teacher, you introduce young people to a language that, with its Cyrillic alphabet and rich grammar, presents a real challenge but also offers a special sense of achievement. You read Pushkin, Dostoevsky, and Tolstoy in the original with your students, discuss Soviet history and the post-Soviet present, and promote a nuanced understanding of a country that influences Europe politically, economically, and culturally in many ways.
