Augustana-Hochschule Neuendettelsau: List of all tuition-free study programs (2026/27)

Augustana University Neuendettelsau, also known as Augustana Theological Seminary, is a small, state-recognised theological university of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria, founded in 1947 out of the church’s resistance to National Socialism. Located on a picturesque campus in Neuendettelsau with its distinctive round chapel, shell-shaped library and park-like grounds, Augustana fosters a close-knit academic community that combines rigorous scholarship with spiritual formation. Specialising in theological studies, the university offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programmes in disciplines such as Old and New Testament, Church History, Systematic and Practical Theology, Missiology, Philosophy and Feminist Theology, placing it on a par with theological faculties at state universities. Closely connected with the Church’s social welfare and missionary work, Augustana provides students with valuable opportunities for practical experience, while international partnerships promote academic exchange and intercultural understanding.
